TAKE ACTION: Tell Gov. McCrory to veto the bill blocking Medicaid expansion in North Carolina
The purpose of the new health care law is to provide a path to health insurance for all Americans. In states that accept the federal money to cover more people through Medicaid, many people with lower incomes will be able to get affordable coverage. If North Carolina turns down the money, those with lower incomes will fall into a "coverage gap." In other words, they will not get any help towards affording health insurance, while many people with higher incomes will still get help.
Accepting the federal money available under the new health care law to cover more people through Medicaid in North Carolina will improve health access for over 500,000 of our citizens. Hard-working families need the security of quality health coverage to get the care they need when they need it without facing huge medical bills.
The North Carolina General Assembly is currently reviewing Senate Bill 4, which would block North Carolina from accepting the federal money to fill the health care coverage gap.
Now is the time to tell Gov. McCrory why expanding Medicaid is the right choice for North Carolina. Please take a moment to add your voice, get the Governor to act, and spread the word:
- Send a letter to Gov. Pat McCrory, starting at the bottom of this page.
- Call the Governor directly at 919-733-5811 and tell him to reject Senate Bill 4.
