TAKE ACTION: Tell your US House Representative to save SNAP and protect hungry families
Members of the US House of Representatives plan to vote on a bill THIS WEEK that would cut the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, by $40 Billion over the next 10 years. At a time when unemployment remains high, this would eliminate basic food assistance for hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians, almost half of whom are children.
We must act now. Tell your Representative to reject a bill that puts hard working families, low-income children and seniors at risk of going hungry. Tell them that Congress’ priorities are wrong: We CAN afford to help feed hungry, hardworking families during temporary times of hardship if we get rid of unnecessary tax breaks for the rich and corporations.
On September 17, you can call your representative toll-free. Dial 866-456-8824, listen to the recorded message and enter your zip code. You'll be connected right to your Representative's office. Let them know you're a constituent; tell them your name and the town you are calling from.
