Tell your legislator to co-sponsor the Paid Sick Days Act & Caregiver Relief Act!

This week, Senator Angela Bryant and Representative Susan Fisher introduced the Healthy Families & Workplaces/Paid Sick Days Act (SB 556/HB 544) and the Caregiver Relief Act (SB 463/HB 543). These two bills will make it easier for working North Carolinians to take care of themselves and their family members who need them.

The Healthy Families & Workplaces/Paid Sick Days Act allows working people in our state to earn paid sick time that they can use to recover from illness, visit a doctor or care for a sick child. The Caregiver Relief Act adds grandparents, grandchildren, step-relatives, and in-laws to the list of family members working caregivers can take time off to care for using unpaid Family Medical Leave.

These policies would be a huge boost to North Carolina’s working families, who are often forced to choose between a paycheck or taking care of themselves and their families.

We salute Representative Fisher and Senator Bryant for standing up for the working people of North Carolina, but they can’t pass these policies without the support of their fellow lawmakers. Call on your legislators in the North Carolina House and Senate to co-sponsor these important bills!
