TAKE ACTION: Sign this letter to ensure Eastern NC gets what it needs to rebuild

We need your voice in the state budget debate to ensure funding for the recovery and rebuilding in Eastern NC after Hurricane Matthew.

The North Carolina General Assembly is poised to finish the state budget in the next three weeks. The Senate budget plan has allocated at most just $150 million to unspecified rebuilding activities.  The estimated unmet need is at least $2.8 billion.

House members must include a greater commitment to Eastern NC in their proposal.  They can afford to do so by holding the tax rates at current levels and not cutting taxes further.  They can also access the more than $1 billion in the Rainy Day Fund for the purpose of rebuilding the region stronger.

The federal government has already given North Carolina’s leaders notice that they will fund just $6.1 million in Hurricane rebuilding efforts.  This is just one percent of our request.

Please add your name to this letter with other elected leaders from local governments across Eastern NC to urge the House to act.
